We spend countless hours listening, testing, and playing our instruments (we really do this--and we like it). The process begins with the creation of the most precise and comfortable bodies and necks possible. We accomplish this by choosing only the finest and most beautiful woods from select lumber mills. Our design and manufacturing process utilizes the best of both old and new world craftsmanship. Ground breaking computer-aided technology is used to achieve the most exacting tolerances found in the guitar industry, while the fine-detail woodwork and beautiful finish-sanding are done by the hands of a master.
We started building guitars over twenty years ago in a village in Quebec Canada called La Patrie. The man that started it all is Robert Godin. Robert still owns the company and he continues to design the vast majority of our guitars. We are a Canadian company with our head office located in Montreal and we build our guitars in several different locations, five in Quebec and one in New Hampshire. For those of you keeping score, that adds up to six factories spread out over about 1000 kilometers.
The craftsmen and women at PRS are a unique bunch. We have a passion for building instruments and also for the music that these instruments help create. Most here are dedicated players, refining our craft as builders and musicians. There is a special kind of pride and individual ownership surrounding our instruments. To really understand why Luna instruments are considered as "art" to many, you have to understand that Luna's lead designer is an artist. Yvonne's 25-year career in creating and producing award-winning architectural stained glass (she calls it "sculpting light") allowed her to hone the skills needed to envision and bring to life the delicate inlaid designs and unique ornamentation that make Luna Guitars so visually stunning. With the eye of a consummate artist, Yvonne applied the same passionate color palette and intricate eye for detail that graced her glass work to her groundbreaking line of guitars, and Luna Guitars was birthed.
